Information provided by the Artist: Michael Rieger is a professional artist, photographer, teacher, and community arts activist. He has been capturing history with his camera for over twenty years and creating art even longer. As a historical photographer, Rieger has worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for 25 years. During that time, he responded to over 68 disasters, including 9/11 World Trade Centers, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Red River floods, Colorado wildfires, and National Security Events such as the 2002 winter Olympics and 2008 Democratic National Convention. He has also worked internationally, using his lens to capture moments of community building and artistic expression throughout the world, including Thailand, Egypt, and Europe. Rieger’s work has been shown in many galleries, festivals, and museums throughout the United States. His photos have been published all over the world and are part of the Smithsonian’s Photographic History Collection Archives.

To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for Sunday, June 9 and Monday, June 10.  A weblink to reserve your pick-up time will be sent to you upon payment of your invoice. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Email artauction@crockerart.org for more information.
