Information provided by the Artist: Katherine Venturelli is recognized for creating unique artist books and fine prints produced from her Fiddletown printmaking studio. Her works are held and exhibited in numerous national museums and special collections, including the Crocker Art Museum. She is a member of the CSP and was awarded a California Arts Council Grant. Highlighted exhibitions include the S.F. Palace of the Legion of Honor’s Contemporary California Works on Paper, 2001 and Musubu, Urawa Art Museum, Japan. Noteworthy publications: 500 Handmade Books Volume 2, PAGES: Innovative Bookmaking Techniques, and 100 Santa Fe Etchers (2008). The printmaking medium offers her both experimentation and spontaneity, which she is delighted to share as an artist and instructor. “The physical world offers me complex relationships and rich metaphoric imagery which I thrive in exploration." The monotype print is inspired by the philosopher Krishnamurti’s quote, "Our house is on fire and we are watching it burn." The archetypal symbols utilized in this landscape image is from my prophecy series about change and transformation.
