Information provided by the Artist: The vastness of the Montana landscape, where I grew up, had a major influence on my work. The endless space has a rugged beauty that made me feel very insignificant, small, and isolated from the rest of the world. As an adult, I have lived in many different places: Seattle; Melbourne, Australia; New York City; Miami; and San Francisco, but none has made as much of an impact on me and my aesthetics as the Great Plains. I went to the University of Washington in Seattle and then to the San Francisco Art Institute, where I received a MFA in painting and sculpture. After graduating, I continued to work as an artist, to exhibit my work, and to teach art. In New York, I received a fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and also completed a public sculpture for one of the subway stations. In San Francisco, I did a public piece for the San Francisco Art Commission. Presently I live in San Francisco, where I have been exhibiting my work at Fouladi Projects and Mag Gallery. My work is represented in the Crocker's permanent collection.
