Information provided by the Artist: Jian Wang is a Chinese American artist born in 1958 in Dalian, China. In 1986, he attended Sacramento City College, where he studied with Fred Dalkey. He later attended the University of California, Davis, to study with Wayne Thiebaud and many great modern masters. In 1994, Wang earned his Master of Arts from California State University, Sacramento, under the direction of Oliver Jackson. Since 1987, Jian Wang has had over 60 solo exhibitions in many cities in the United States and China, such as Sacramento, San Francisco, New York City, Washington, DC, Beijing, Wuhan, and Dalian. In 2007, he had a retrospective show at California State University, Sacramento, Jian Wang, Two Decades in America. In 2008, during the Beijing Olympics, he was invited by Fan Di An, the Director of the National Art Museum of China, and Mr. Fan curated the solo exhibition, Return Journey - the Art of Jian Wang's Oil Paintings in the museum in Beijing.
