Information provided by the Artist: Hector Dionicio Mendoza (b.1969, Uruapan, MX) lives and works in Salinas Valley, CA, and is a professor of Sculpture and Installation at CSU Monterey Bay. Mendoza holds an MFA from Yale University, New Haven, CT, and a BFA from California College of the Arts, Oakland, CA. Mendoza is represented by Luis De Jesus Los Angeles, he has exhibited internationally, is the recipient of esteemed awards and public art commissions. Mendoza is in the collection of The Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA; Museum of Fine Arts Houston, TX; Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, South Hadley, MA; OZ Art NWA, Bentonville, AR; and numerous private collections. Hector Dionicio Mendoza’s work immerses viewers into a world evocative of Magical Realism, taking inspiration from oral histories, ethnobotany, and family traditions.
