Information provided by the Artist: The vastness of the Montana landscape where Anne Veraldi grew up had a major influence on her work. The endless space has a rugged beauty that made her feel very insignificant and small. She had the distinct feeling of being very isolated and distant from the rest of the world. In her work, she tries to create a feeling of physical detachment that comes with the passage of time. Veraldi attended the University of Washington and graduate school at San Francisco Art Institute. She taught at Hofstra University and at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She showed her sculpture at Bridgewater/Lustberg Gallery and received a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. She has done public art projects in New York and San Francisco where she continues to exhibit work. She is currently working on a project of documenting her neighborhood, the Mission District of San Francisco.
