Pat Mahony was born in 1951 in Los Angeles, California and graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1973. Her work hovers between abstraction and representation. Saturated tones, lush abstraction, and a brevity of strokes suggest an absence of wasted motion. Her work emphasizes color, composition, and drama, and her subject matter includes urban scenes, river landscapes, still lifes, and figures. Her ultimate goal is to create a lush, abstracted view of the subject matter that creates perfect balance of light and dark. Mahony’s work has been collected by numerous museums, corporations and private collections across the United States.
