Information provided by the Artist: Michael Solomon was born in Sacramento, California in 1948. Throughout the 50s, he grew up surrounded by art and music as his father, Russ Solomon, was in the wholesale record business and later established Tower Records in 1960. His father founded the Artist Cooperative Gallery, whose early artists included Wayne Thiebaud, Greg Kondos, Mel Ramos and many other northern California artists. Solomon joined Tower as legal counsel in 1987. After leaving Tower in 2003, Solomon took over the family-owned Solomon-Dubnick Gallery. He still practices law, collects art, and is an avid “street photographer” with a strong interest in shooting jazz musicians.
