Information provided by the Artist: Linda Mieko Allen was born in Osaka, Japan. Each of Allen's exhibitions focuses around a theme or conceptual framework. She received her BFA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. Allen has received numerous painting residencies, including at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Omaha, NE; Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Woodside, CA; MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, NH; Roswell Residency, Roswell, NM; Ucross Foundation Residency, Ucross, WY; and the American Academy in Rome, Italy. She has received two Pollock-Krasner Awards. Her work is included in many private and museum collections and she has exhibited extensively nationally and internationally. Linda lives in North Adams, MA and is represented by Nancy Hoffman Gallery in New York. Linda Mieko Allen's work is represented in the Crocker's permanent collection.
