Information provided by the Artist: Joe Strickland is an artist living in the Northern California. He has work in private and corporate collections internationally. His work is currently represented by Elliot Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, CA, Piper J. Gallery & Ridgeline Gallery in Truckee, CA, and Mountain Galleries in Banff, Jasper and Whistler, Canada. Strickland is a native of the Bay Area where he received his graphic design degree with a concentration in painting and printmaking and has pursued self-taught enhanced creativity for more than 50 years. Currently he's been exploring minimalism by distilling imagery to its basic elements, concentrating on essential shapes defined by hue and value while disregarding extraneous details. By using geometric angles with no curves and applying a hard edge to key shapes and color values, there becomes a pleasing linearity without sacrificing the inherent essence of the composition.
