The Crocker Art Museum's Silent Auction features over 100 original works of art by emerging artists and some of the biggest names in the Sacramento region and beyond. Bidding for the Silent Auction will open May 9 and ends Sunday, June 8, with one artwork closing every minute starting at 1 PM PDT.

Information provided by the Artist: Gerald Walburg, born in 1936, is an American artist renowned for his large-scale metal sculptures and contributions to public art. He earned his MA in 1967 from the University of California, Davis, where he began creating expansive works. Walburg's notable public installations include the 40-foot-tall Indo Arch (1980) on Sacramento's K Street Mall and a prominent bronze sculpture at the entrance of the Crocker Art Museum. His work Stiff Loops (1974) is displayed at San Francisco General Hospital. Beyond sculpture, Walburg's Chrysanthemum Series (1983) watercolors are part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. He has also exhibited metal and ceramic sculptures, paintings, and drawings in solo exhibitions, such as the Then and Now show at Artspace 1616 in Sacramento. Walburg has influenced many through his teaching at California State University, Sacramento, and continues to reside and create in Sacramento. His work is represented in the Crocker's permanent collection.

To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Upon payment of the invoice, winning bidders will receive more information about artwork pick up and shipping.
